Christmas Toy Appeal 2018

From all of us at The Salvation Army in Sale, we would like to express our sincere thanks to all community residents, local businesses and schools that supported last year's Christmas toy appeal. We have had some lovely letters of thanks from social workers and family support workers who witnessed the delight, relief and emotion from many families who were so grateful to be receiving food parcels and toys for their children.

Although we don't see for ourselves the impact that the donation of a toy and food can bring to people who are in such need, the feedback we have received is encouraging. To be informed that we have helped to make a difference for these families at Christmas, that it is the right thing to do and you have helped to make that happen!

Quotes received from social workers:

"The families were overwhelmed with the gifts and have said how much this has helped them this Christmas."

"Your support at this time does really help to make Christmas a truly special time as it demonstrates that agencies can work together to provide much needed support for vulnerable members in the community".

So how do we do it?

Each Year The Salvation Army in Sale send out an appeal to all local businesses, schools & local residents of Sale community to donate NEW toys & food for children & their families who would otherwise go without at Christmas time.

All families are referred to us by social services and children's services and we cover families who live in Trafford & Wythenshawe area's. We are assured by these agencies that all families who are referred are in genuine need of help.

Last year, we were overwhelmed by the amount of families living within the local area's that were in crisis over Christmas. We supplied over 1000 children and 475 families with toys and food and unfortunately we assume that the need will be even greater this year. Although the generosity of local businesses and community was fantastic, we still ran short of both food and toys and needed to go out and buy more.

So, how can you help?

There are a number of ways you can help make a local child's Christmas a happier time this year.

Donate a NEW UNWRAPPED toy at The Salvation Army, Ashton Lane, Sale
Age range from 0-18yrs
Donate a tub of chocolate treats: Heroes, Celebrations or Roses
Tell your friends, neighbours & work colleagues about the appeal, ask them to collect as well
Come along to our Community Carol Service
If you would prefer you can donate with a financial contribution
Without your help, we would not be able to carry out this very important appeal and we thank the generosity of the local community, businesses, schools and churches for your support. But most of all the children and families thank YOU for helping to make their Christmas a special family time, without which, these children would wake up to no presents on Christmas Day.

So please continue to donate this Christmas Time, you really do make a 'local' difference.
